Getting Started with Zynclog
Welcome to Zynclog. We built this platform because traditional project management tools are broken for modern agencies and freelancers. Instead of forcing you into rigid sprints and artificial deadlines, Zynclog is designed for continuous progress tracking, retainer work, and seamless client communication.
This guide will get you up and running in minutes.
Core Concepts
Understanding how Zynclog structures data will help you get the most out of the platform.
1. Projects
A Project is the top-level container for a specific client engagement. Because Zynclog is built for continuous work, a Project doesn't need a strict "due date." It acts as a living timeline of the value you provide.
2. Milestones
Milestones are the individual building blocks of a Project. They represent tasks, updates, or deliverables. When you update a Milestone, your client's timeline updates instantly in real-time.
The Project Lifecycle
Projects in Zynclog flow through four specific states. We use a "Soft Lock" system to ensure you never get stuck if plans change.
- Active: Active work is happening. Milestones are being added and checked off.
- Completed (Soft Lock): All milestones are finished. The system automatically marks the project as Completed. However, if a client asks for "one last change," you can simply add or uncheck a milestone, and the project instantly wakes back up to In Progress.
- Archived (Hard Lock): The engagement is totally finalized and billed. Archiving a project removes it from your active dashboard and locks it to preserve the historical audit trail.
Your First 5 Minutes
- Create a Workspace: Head to your dashboard and click "New Project." Give it a client-facing name.
- Add Milestones: Outline the immediate tasks or updates you want to communicate to your client.
- Share the Timeline: (Pro & Agency tiers) Generate a secure, read-only link to send to your client so they can watch your progress in real-time without needing an account.
