Managing Projects
In Zynclog, a Project is the top-level container for a specific client engagement. Because we believe in continuous work, Projects don't rely on strict deadlines. They rely on States.
The Project Lifecycle
Projects flow naturally through three states based on the work you do inside them. You rarely have to change a project status manually.
1. Active
This is the standard state for any ongoing engagement. As long as there is at least one milestone that is PENDING or IN_PROGRESS, the project remains Active.
2. Completed (The Soft Lock)
When you check off the final milestone in a project (marking it COMPLETED), the system automatically marks the parent Project as Completed.
Why we use a "Soft Lock": Clients often ask for "one last thing." If a project is Completed, you can still add a new milestone or uncheck an old one. If you do, the Project instantly reverts to Active. You are never trapped in a "finished" state.
3. Archived (The Hard Lock)
When the engagement is truly finished, billed, and closed, you can Archive the project from the settings menu.
- Archiving removes the project from your main active dashboard, keeping your workspace clean.
- It permanently locks all milestones from being edited, preserving your historical audit trail for compliance and billing reference.
